So what the hell is Goldilocks training??
Does anyone even remember the 19th-century British fairy tale?
If you do you’ll remember that the hero of the story settled on a bowl of porridge that was not too hot, not too cold, it was just about right.
So how can we apply this to your midweek gym and sports training?
If you want to feel at your best by the time the whistle goes at the weekend then you need to get the balance of your midweek training and your pre-game warm up just about right.
Going too hard will mean your body’s nervous and energy systems will be running low and going too soft will mean you will feel sluggish when you start.
The key is to vary the intensity of your sessions throughout the week. “Going hard or going home” is for gym bros, not sports men and women as your goal is sports performance.
How you vary intensity depends on your unique situation but more often than not harder sessions are scheduled for the beginning of the week with intensity tapering as you get nearer the weekend.
Its simple but not easy to get right.
Let me know if you want to understand how you can nail your Goldilocks training
